J is for Jelly

We are learning the letter "j" this week.
We know lots of words that start with "j";
January, jump, jam, jacket, jar, jet, but jelly is our favourite!

We worked as a team to help make jelly cups for everyone in the class.

First we broke the jelly into cubes and placed it in cool water.

Next we added warm water and stirred carefully until the jelly dissolved.

We each hid a jelly snake down the bottom of our jelly cups.
Then teacher poured the mixture into our cups.

We left the jelly to set in the fridge for the full day.
By home time it had set and was wibbly wobbly and delicious!!!!!!

Aboriginal Art

We are learning all about Australia this week.
We really loved the Aboriginal dot art so we decided to make our own!
We coloured in a picture of our favourite Australian animal, a kangaroo, to be in the centre of our art work.

Next we used Q-tips to begin making our dots of paint around the kangaroo.

We used lots of colours to make our art work bright and beautiful!!!!

Australia Day!!

Today we celebrated Australia Day in our classroom.
We learned so many exciting things about Australia.
We learned some fun facts about the Australian Aborigines.
We looked at two of the instruments they use , a didgeridoo and a rainmaker.
We took turns playing the didgeridoo and the rainmaker!
Then we all had fun colouring the Australian flag in red, blue and white.

Three little kittens lost their mittens.....

We learned a new rhyme today about three little kittens who lost their mittens.

The three little kittens, they lost their mittens,
And they began to cry,
"Oh, mother dear, we sadly fear,
That we have lost our mittens."

We decided to make some extra mittens for the three little kittens and hang them out to dry!

We used rollers to paint a sky on a large A3 page.

Next we used coloured tissue paper and glue to create a patchwork effect on the mittens.

Then we stuck a real clothes peg on our mitten and glued it to the background.
For a finishing touch we used a snowflake stamp to create snowflakes falling in winter time.

Then we hung all our mittens on our clothes line!
We hope the kittens like them!!!!
