Floating and sinking

Today we were investigating objects that float and sink.
First we looked at some objects and made predictions as to whether we thought they would float or
sink in water.

Next we worked in pairs to carry out an experiment.
We used tubs of water to test whether each object would float or sink.

We discovered that corks, lollipop sticks, pencils and plastic blocks would float.
We discovered that spoons, coins, rocks and keys sank.

We recorded our findings by drawing pictures of the objects that float and the objects that sank.

We had lots of fun investigating floating and sinking!!!

Coin Rubbings

Today we took another visit to the class shop.
This time we each picked out a 1c, 2c and 5c coin.
We matched each coin to the correct box and then used our crayons to make coin rubbings.

This week we have started learning about money.
We looked at 1c, 2c and 5c coins.
We compared the size, colour and numbers on each coin.
Next we helped teacher with a problem;
all the money in the class shop had gotten mixed up!
She needed our help to sort out all the coins into 1c,2c and 5c coins.
We took a bag of coins each and were able to sort all the money into 1c, 2c and 5c.

Teacher was very happy with out hard work.
We are great helpers!!

Fun with fruit!

We are learning all about healthy eating this week at school.
We love to eat healthy foods so we can grow big and strong.
Fruit is one of our favourite healthy treats.
Today we had some fun with our favourite fruits.
We used apples, oranges and limes to create prints with paint.

Each fruit made a new and exciting print.
It was fun to see the shapes we could make with fruit and paint!!
