Floating and sinking

Today we were investigating objects that float and sink.

First we looked at some objects and made predictions as to whether we thought they would float or 

sink in water.

Next we worked in pairs to carry out an experiment.

We used tubs of water to test whether each object would float or sink.

We discovered that corks, lollipop sticks, pencils and plastic blocks would float.

We discovered that spoons, coins, rocks and keys sank.

We recorded our findings by drawing pictures of the objects that float and the objects that sank.

We had lots of fun investigating floating and sinking!!!
